News: 1997 Pinnacle Card
Tucker has the potential to become one of the league's best players.
No one questions his intensity, desire, and effort, attributes he has
developed in response to those who always claimed he did not have the
size to succeed in hockey. Tucker proved the critics wrong at the
junior level, the minor league level and should eventually do the same
at the NHL level. He accumulated a lengthy list of personal achievements
with Kamloops in the Western junior league over a four-year career. He
has both a 50-goal and a 60-goal season to his credit, scoring well
over 130 points in each of those campaigns. He was a two-time WHL First
Team All-Star, a two-time Memorial Cup All-Star, the Memorial Cup MVP
in 1994 when Kamloops won it all and the scoring leader in the playoffs
in both 1993-94 and 1994-95. Tucker turned pro with Fredericton of the
AHL in 1995-96 and won Rookie of the Year honors after racking up 93
points in 74 games. Tucker is a tenacious forechecker, persistent in
his desire to get in the other team's face.
